How to Block Calls From Your Call History
The easiest and most common way to block a phone number is from your call history. Locate the number that called you and tap it. Tap the menu button in the upper right corner > Block number.
How to Block Calls on an LG Phone From Settings
If you want to add a number or a set of numbers before they call you, there are three call blocking features found in your dialer. Open your dialer and tap the menu button > Call settings > Call blocking & Decline with message. Here, you’ll find three options:
Blocked numbers: You can enter a new number by tapping the “+” symbol, then add a number from your contacts, call logs, or a new number altogether.Digit filter: This blocks calls based on the first or last digits of an incoming phone call. Tap the “+”, then select the condition (starts with or ends with), then the numbers. Then, tap Block.Private numbers: This toggle is a simple on or off that will prevent incoming calls from private numbers if turned on. Private numbers are those that have been intentionally blocked by the caller.
How to Block Messages From Your Messaging History
Similar to blocking calls, you can block text messages from your message history or from Messaging settings.
How to Block Messages From Messaging Settings
You can also block numbers from the main messaging app menu. From your Messaging app, tap the menu button in the upper right corner, then tap Settings > Message blocking. Like with call block settings, you’ll find several options here:
Blocked numbers: Here you can enter a new number by tapping the “+” symbol, then add a number from your contacts, call logs, or a new number altogether.Digit filter: This blocks messages based on the first or last digits of an incoming phone call. Tap the “+”, then select the condition (starts with or ends with), then the numbers. Then, tap Block.Word filter: This allows you to block incoming messages from anyone based on keywords. Block unknown number: This toggle is a simple on or off that will prevent incoming messages from unknown numbers if turned on. This is not recommended because companies that send confirmation texts for things like logins may be blockedBlocked box: This is where blocked messages get sequestered. If you want to retrieve a blocked text, this is where you go.
How to Unblock a Number on LG
If you decide you no longer want to block a number, or numbers that start or end with certain digits, here how to unblock the number: Similarly for messages, tap the menu button in the upper right corner, then tap Settings > Message blocking. From here, tap Blocked numbers, Digit filter or Word filter. Remove the number or keyword you want to open up again and you’ll be set.
Other Options
Different carriers and third-party apps also have services that make call and text blocking possible. Your mileage may vary with other apps and services, but LG’s built in options should cover most use cases.
