Here’s all the information you need to plan your island time in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

When Does a New Day Start in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Things happen on your island at different times all day, so several times are important. The main one, however, is 5 a.m., when a lot of activity occurs. At that time, your island “resets” to its neutral state. Here’s what happens:

Isabelle or Tom Nook will appear to give the morning announcements. A new glowing dig spot (where you can dig up a bag of 1,000 Bells and plant a money tree) will appear. One rock you destroyed the previous day by hitting them with a shovel or axe after eating fruit will appear in a new spot on your island. If you destroyed multiple rocks, only one would respawn each morning. The daily bonus for accessing the Nook Stop in Resident Services will reset. Holes you dug the previous day but didn’t fill in disappear. Flowers you watered (or all of your flowers, if it rained or snowed) return to ‘unwatered’ status. They may also spawn offspring and hybrid flowers. Visitors at your island’s campsite go home. The materials and Bells inside the rocks scattered around your island replenish if you mined them the day before. The trees on your island restock their supplies of wood and hidden furniture. Any in-game visitors who came to your island the previous day, like Flick, C.J., Saharah, Leif, or Redd, leave. New visitors and merchants arrive. A message bottle containing a recipe appears on the beach. Any construction projects you’ve paid for, including bridges, inclines, and building relocation, will complete, and the new or moved structures will become available. If you’ve marked a bridge or incline for destruction, it will also disappear at this time. More buried fossils will appear. New bonus tasks in your Nook Miles+ app will appear. If you’d made wishes on falling stars during a meteor shower the previous night, star fragments (up to 20) would wash up on your beach.
